"It is the mission of Concord Academy to guide our students in achieving educational excellence in a Christian environment while declaring God's power to the next generation one student at a time."
Founded in 1976 as First Assembly Christian School, Concord Academy began as a ministry of First Assembly Worship Center with a simple but powerful mission: to partner with families in providing a Christ-centered education for their children. This vision was built upon the foundation of the church's Daycare Ministry, established in 1970, which cared for infants through four-year-olds and reflected the church's longstanding commitment to serving families. Originally located at 1033 Rockland Circle, the school experienced immediate growth, enrolling approximately 500 students during its first twelve years. In 1988, the completion of the Educational Center allowed the school to relocate to its current campus at 154 Warren C. Coleman Boulevard, providing space to continue expanding its ministry and educational programs to over 800 students.
As First Assembly Worship Center became widely known throughout the community as cfa Church (Concord First Assembly), the school was renamed cfa Academy in 2013, further strengthening its identity while maintaining its close partnership with its home church. During this transition, the Daycare officially became part of the Academy, creating one unified ministry serving children from daycare through 12th grade.
In 2020, cfa Church embraced a new name, Multiply Church, to reflect its growing mission of multiplying churches and multiplying disciples. As part of this exciting new chapter, cfa Academy became Concord Academy, continuing its role as a ministry of the church while strengthening its commitment to serving the broader community.
Today, Concord Academy serves more than 1,300 students from Daycare through 12th Grade, making it one of the region's largest Christ-centered educational communities. Students represent more than 215 churches across Cabarrus, Rowan, Iredell, Mecklenburg, Stanly, and Union counties. Concord Academy is also home to a thriving international student community. Over the years, students have come from countries including China, Canada, South Korea, Serbia, Nicaragua, Brazil, Spain, Croatia, Mongolia, Poland, Nigeria, The Bahamas, Vietnam, and the Netherlands, enriching the campus with diverse cultures and perspectives while international students are able to experience a distinctly Christian education.
Throughout every season of growth and every name change, one thing has remained constant: Christ and the Cross are at the center of everything we do. With a passion for excellence in academics, fine arts, athletics, leadership, and spiritual formation, Concord Academy continues to educate with excellence, love Jesus, and change the world…one student at a time.
As we celebrate 50 years of God's faithfulness, we reflect with deep gratitude on a rich heritage and look forward with great anticipation to all He has yet to do. From First Assembly Christian School to CFA Academy and now Concord Academy, each represents a chapter of one remarkable story. It is a story of a living, lasting legacy of faith and generations of lives transformed through Christ-centered education. We honor those who have faithfully built this foundation while embracing the exciting future God has prepared for the students and families yet to come. What a heritage. What an exciting future.
