Concord Academy Band
Band at Concord Academy is taught in scheduled classes as a regular part of the school day. Band is introduced to fifth graders in beginning band with hopes of them continuing on into the Middle School and High School Band program. Having a comprehensive music education involves exposing students to a wide variety of musical concepts and to that end, students will learn much more than how to play an instrument. Students will also learn the following components:
Music Theory (Reading, writing, rhythm studies and understanding terminology)
Aural Skills (Recognizing major & minor tonalities, harmonic structure)
Music History (Composer biographical info, historical and cultural relevance and the significance of music during certain periods)
Music Appreciation (Exposure to different genres of music)
Critical-Thinking Skills
